Our 2021 PHA Plan draft is available for viewing. Due to covid-19, we remain closed to the public, so the Plan is available for viewing online only:
The CDC issued a moratorium on evictions for millions of American renters effective from Sept. 4 to Dec. 31, 2020. If you're struggling to pay rent, you’ll need to attest in a signed declaration to your landlord that you've sought rental assistance, that being evicted would require you to double up with others or become homeless, and that you promise to make partial rent payments. The CDC moratorium does not change local eviction protections currently in place, and does not relieve you of your obligation to pay rent.
Please check this excellent HUD Covid-19 toolkit for resources on eviction prevention and FAQ's.
Evictions for nonpayment of rent, and charges/fees for nonpayment of rent, have been temporarily suspended. This applies to all HUD-assisted participants from March 27, 2020 to July 24, 2020.
The Housing Authority of Racine County's number one priority is the safety and well being of our staff, clients, families, and the community in which we live and work. We are assessing the COVID-19 situation daily, and have determined at this time that the best course of action is to close our offices to the public. Our staff is still working in our office, so please communicate with us via email, phone, our website, or www.assistancecheck.org . We will update as the situation warrants.
